RIO DE JANEIRO, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international right-back Rafinha has joined Rio de Janeiro giants Flamengo, less than a month after parting ways with Bayern Munich.
The 33-year-old will begin a two-year contract when Brazil's Serie A season resumes next month after its recess for the Copa America, Flamengo said in a statement.
Rafinha joined Bayern Munich stalwarts Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in leaving the Bundesliga champions at the end of the 2018-19 season.
The defender made 179 league appearances for Bayern after arriving from Genoa in 2011. He played another 153 matches in Germany's top flight for Schalke in the second half of the last decade.
Flamengo are currently fifth in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings, five points behind leaders Palmeiras.
