BEIRUT, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Gao Yan, chairwoman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), said Sunday that China is interested in implementing projects in Lebanon's Tripoli.
"We have heard from the people we met about the capabilities that are available in Tripoli and what can be done to improve and boost economic partnership with China," Gao said during a tour in Lebanon's second largest city, Tripoli, along with representatives of Chinese companies.
"We want to benefit from the location of the city and its various logistic facilities which are a lot as we have seen," Gao said.
Gao's visit to Lebanon comes on the occasion of her participation in the China Lebanon Investment Forum organized by Fransabank Group last Saturday at the Adnan Kassar Edifice for Arab Economy in Beirut.
Toufic Dabbousi, head of Tripoli's chamber of commerce, industry and agriculture, said that the chamber is ready to offer all the support for Chinese companies by exempting them from all financial fees.
"We want economic partnerships with China in addition to attracting Chinese investments in strategic projects in North Lebanon," he said.
Tripoli, which lies on the Mediterranean coast, is about 80 km away from Beirut's northern borders and is about 30 km away from the Lebanese northern borders with Syria, which makes it an important hub for the future projects of Syria's reconstruction.
