DOHA, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Qatar Financial Center (QFC)'s CEO Yousuf Al-Jaida said on Sunday that his country wants to develop a 20-billion-U.S. dollar sports sector prior to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Unveiling the strategic vision for 2022 World Cup in Doha, Al-Jaida told media that his financial center aims to license about 150 sports companies to attract them to facilitate sports events and services in the state.
"The new strategy will promote Qatar to a hub for innovative, digital, media, sports, and financial services, which will provide a solid basis for direct foreign investments in growing fields," Al-Jaida said.
He added that the QFC's strategy also looked for new emerging markets such as sports service companies to cater for the upcoming event.
