ULAN BATOR, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka has opened its Office of Honorary Consul in Mongolia's capital here, the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday.
"I am confident that the honorary consul will play an important role in developing bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Sri Lanka in all sectors and protecting the rights of Sri Lankan citizens living in Mongolia," Doloonjin Orgilmaa, first Sri Lankan honorary consul in Mongolia, said at the opening ceremony of the consul on Wednesday.
Representatives from the Mongolian Foreign Ministry, Sri Lankan non-resident Ambassador to Mongolia Karunasena Kodituwakku and several Sri Lankan citizens living in Mongolia attended the ceremony, according to the ministry.
Mongolia and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations in February 1962.
