BOGOTA, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Colombia will sit out the year's final international friendly dates after failing to find suitable opponents, the South American country's football federation (FCF) said on Wednesday.
Panama, El Salvador and Ecuador had been mentioned as possible adversaries for Los Cafeteros during the November 12-20 window sanctioned by FIFA.
"It was considered that the rivals offered did not meet the sporting expectations of the national team," the FCF said in a statement.
It added that the decision would allow local clubs to call upon their best players for crucial domestic and continental fixtures.
The FCF also said it is continuing to analyze candidates for the national team's head coach role, which became vacant after the resignation of Argentine Jose Pekerman in September. Enditem
