ACCRA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ghana dropped six places to rank 51st in the September edition of the FIFA world ranking released on Thursday.
Ghana was placed 45th in the August ranking.
The Black Stars have also slumped from the 4th to the 7th position on the continental pecking order after losing 17 points from their point tally of 1424 they garnered in August to 1407 points this month.
Ghana's slide has been credited to its 1-0 defeat to Kenya's Harambee Stars in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier two weeks ago.
As a result of the Kenyan loss, Ghana joins Slovenia as the biggest fallers of the month.
Tunisia (23), Senegal (25), Congo DR (40), Morocco (45), Nigeria (48) and Cameroon (50) are Africa's top seven ranked teams.
According to FIFA, 154 matches were taken into account in the September ranking.
Ghana will play Sierra Leone in the back-to-back AFCON qualifiers next month. Enditem
